Why is HD TV better?
HD TV delivers brilliant, high-resolution images in a widescreen format. With 10 times the resolution of standard definition (SD) TV, you will see more details compared to analog television. You can also watch your favourite shows on a 16:9 aspect ratio (wide screen picture), and enjoy rich, resonant sound through Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound from every angle, creating a much more memorable, cinematic television experience.
What do I need to experience TELUS TV HD?
HD TV requires three components: an HD TV, an HD digital box and HD programming. TELUS will provide you with an HD digital box and offers HD programming. All you need is an HD TV.
Is setting up HD complicated?
No. If your line qualifies for HD TV, your TELUS TV technician will provide you with the hardware you need to equip your HD-capable digital box during installation.
Can I get TELUS TV HD where I live?
At this time, TELUS is conducting a limited HD rollout. We will contact you by phone and direct mail when HD is available to you.
How many HD enabled TVs can I have?
We provide you with up to 2 digital boxes (only one of which can be enabled for HD). The other box will support SD channels.
Are all of my channels HD?
No, only 23 channels are currently available in HD. The percentage of HD programming on each HD channel varies.
How much does HD programming cost?
Just $27 a month for the basic HD package, which includes the Essentials and up to 7 HD channels. You can then add HD theme packs for $5 each, or take all 5 for just $15 (the corresponding SD theme packs are required and are extra). Purchase a Movie 4 or Movie 6 Pack in SD, and you will receive a Movie Central 1, Movie Central 2 and WGN in HD with our free HD Movie Pack.
Why do I need to subscribe to both the HD and corresponding SD theme packs?
Due to regulations and programming partner restrictions, you must subscribe to the standard definition version of the HD theme pack.
Can I get Video On Demand (VOD) or Pay Per View (PPV) in HD?
While TELUS is adding HD movie selections to our VOD selections, we currently do not offer PPV content in HD at this time.
Can I watch local news or other local programming in HD?
Currently only Vancouver has local HD affiliates. Local stations in Calgary and Edmonton do not offer HD broadcasts at this time.
