How Do I Recycle My Old Cell Phone?
1. Drop your old cell phone off
Drop your old cell phone off at one of our retail locations. Cell phones of any age or condition are accepted for donation. Cell phone chargers are not recycled at this point. This is the only part you need to do.
2. We ship old cell phones to the recycler
Once we have collected 50+ cell phones we ship them to our recycler Charitable Recycling in Ontario.
3. 100% are proceeds donated to charity
Charitable Recycling Inc donate $1 per phone received, to the Tom Harris Cellular Cell Phone Recycling Fund. Every Christmas we donate all proceeds to our nominated charities
Nominated Charities

What Happens to the Recycled Cell Phones?
Charitable Recycling Inc repair or use the spare parts to build refurbished cell phones.
Refurbished cell phones made for sale and donation to the following causes:
- Emerging countries and areas in Canada and the United States where there is an economic necessity for cell phones for both safety & communication.
- Areas of the world where there are no land (wire) lines, or, where the cost of a new phone is prohibitive.
- Shelters for abused adults and children so they may have 911 (emergency only) communication.
- Medical patients who are awaiting organ transplants.
Cell phones that cannot be refurbished or donated will be recycled and disposed of in an environmentally-responsible manner. Old cell phones should not be disposed of in landfills since they contain many toxic materials that are harmful to our environment. More than 500 million cell phones, weighing over 250,000 tons, are lying idle and could potentially enter our waste stream.
