TELUS Mobile Internet is now on the 3G+ Network

TELUS Mobile Internet connects your laptop or PC wirelessly to the TELUS 3G+ Network, so you can use the internet when you are away from home or the office. To connect to the fastest and biggest network in Canada, you simply insert the modem into the USB port of your computer.
The 3G+ network delivers fast downloads speeds of upto 21mbps and upload speeds of 5.76mbps. This is true broadband internet speeds.
Whether it is for personal or business use the popularity of this service has exploded in the last 6 months. We find our clients use it on their boats, at the cabin, working the the ferry, on the road in-between meetings or meeting up with family and friends.

What is involved in getting set up?
There are 2 parts to getting set up. First, you select your Mobile Internet Key, or wireless modem, term. You can either buy it outright for $149.99 or get it for $0 when you sign up to a 2 or 3 year term. Secondly, you select your Rate plan. Rate plans start from $30 a month for 500MB.

Setting yourself up on the Mobile Internet Key and on the rate plan that suits your life style is easy, but it's important that you understand how data works. After selecting a plan that suits your lifestyle you'll want to monitor your usage habits in order to prevent going over your monthly limit and incurring overage charges.
To help you better transition into your mobile high speed plan, TELUS will waive any overage charges you incur in your first two months* . This will allow you to get a sense of what your data usage habits are. Depending on how much your average monthly Internet usage is, you'll want to align that with the rate plan that suits your life style.

How big is 1 gig?
To help ensure you're on a Mobile High Speed plan that suits your needs, the chart below provides sample estimates on data for your reference. Please note that these figures are specific to the activity listed below. For example, if a client spends a lot of time streaming video, you will use all 500 MB within approximately 4 hours of use (1 GB = 1,024 MB, 1 MB = 1,024 KB)

Light to moderate data user we recommend: Mobile High Speed 30 (500 MB)
- Already has Internet service at home and wants Mobile High Speed Internet for the times when they are on the road
- Sends and receives mostly text emails for work and personal use, and will sometimes send and receive emails with attachments and graphics
- Visits Web pages mainly for information searches
- Occasionally watches YouTube™ on the Mobile Internet Key; approximately 15 minutes per week
Average data user we recommend: Mobile High Speed 40 or Mobile high Speed 50 (1GB/2GB)
- Regularly sends and receives emails with text and attachments
- Visits Web pages for information searches and frequently updates Facebook™ account
- Watches some YouTube™; approximately 30 minutes per week
- Downloads five MP3s per week
High data user we recommend: Mobile High Speed 65 (5GB)

Monitoring usage
TELUS offers two easy ways to help you monitor your monthly usage in order to make sure you don't use more data than you've got. You can use the Sierra Wireless Watcher® application that comes pre-installed on your Mobile Internet Key, or you can visit TELUS eCare® from within your online TELUS account
If you do find that you’re going over your data bucket:
- You can continue to pay for your additional usage on a monthly basis, or
- You can change the rate plan you’re on to one that suits your lifestyle more . TELUS clients can change their rate plan up to once per billing cycle for free when done via TELUS eCare®
Visit your online TELUS account
- Log on to your online TELUS account, select eCare®, and click View Data Usage
- Select "All" from the Services field
- Select the period (e.g., 7 days back or date range) and click Search
- The results appear below the Search section
To view total data used to date in the current billing cycle, enter in the first day of the billing cycle until the present day
Using the Connection Manager on your Mobile Internet Key
You can monitor your data usage right from your connection manager. Here’s how you can track your usage on your Huawei E182E Mobile Internet Key.

- Click on the Statistics tab of the connection manager
- You can view the total daily, monthly, and yearly uploaded and downloaded data on your Mobile Internet Key in this window
- Your total data usage (uploaded and downloaded) for the set period is shown here
- You can change the data usage tracking options to suit your needs by clicking Set Limit
